"A legacy? In what sense?"

"I guess, something to hand down to someone who comes after me. I know I'm a hard person to care about or remember, but if one person could remember me, and that person had one person who remembered them, in 500 years or something, I'd like there to be something out there that people can say, 'Hey, that's because of Andrew Cherenkov, he made that."


Margulis pondered a moment. "That is a very difficult goal. Relying on others to remember things about you is hard, even when you're the man in charge. I certainly hope this is something you can achieve."

"I just hope it can be something positive. Something that will undo the bad I've already done."

This is really nice. It's melancholy, yeah, but also there's a sense of peace or coming to terms with himself.
